After just recently coming back from the holiday I’ve dreamt of for a very long time, I wanted to make my first blog post on New York City, the place that lived up to all my expectations and more! Ever since I was little and received a present from there (that I was obsessed with… it went with me everywhere!) I always wanted to visit. Obviously as I got older, there were other reasons as to why I wanted to go. Such as visiting places you only see in films and shopping in all the big department stores with hundreds of beauty brands. So on my 18th birthday this year, when my mum and dad gave me the most exciting present I could’ve wished for, I couldn’t, and still can’t express, how grateful I am. I felt so lucky to be able to go with them and also my boyfriend, every day since we have been back I have had severe holiday blues!
I just want to give a mention to the hotel I stayed at as it was just perfect for the week we were there and I would highly recommend it. The French Quarters is a rather small hotel for New York but it has amazing reviews and I can see why. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and made many personal touches to our stay. A newspaper and sheet with information, like the weather and special events, were left outside the bedroom door every morning. Also, when we stayed this February, it was extremely cold (it was the coldest Valentines day that New York had seen for over 100 years at -17 degrees!) The pipes actually froze for a day and when we returned to our room, instead of it being freezing cold, they had put two radiators in our room, and my mum and dads. Also, we had a continental breakfast there every morning which a lot of hotels don’t offer so it made it easy for us to start our day!
We did all the typical New York things; Empire State Building, took pictures of the Statue of Liberty, got countless yellow taxis and we went to the Ground Zero memorial which I feel was important to visit, although very emotional.
Every day was amazing and we created lots of memories. Although, my favourite day would have to be the day that we had in Central Park. It has always been my dream to be in New York in the snow so I couldn’t believe it when it started coming down heavy! We headed straight to Central Park as it is the iconic place to be in the snow and I got the most amazing pictures. It will definitely be a day I will always remember. I can’t quite believe that I actually had the opportunity to take pictures like this.
Finally, shopping was obviously a major bonus and New York definitely didn’t disappoint! We spent about 3 hours in Victoria’s Secret one day, especially because the flagship store is situated there. Also Sephora, Bloomingdales and Macy’s were like every girls dream! It really was my dream and I didn’t want to leave, so I am already thinking of another time that we can all visit again!
